This year, the Explorer-in-Training program will feature two paid internship options: (a) 10-week, summertime opportunities and (b) 2-4 week expedition-based opportunities. The 10-week internships provide students an opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge through long-term projects supported by mentors in NOAA Ocean Exploration and partner organizations. The 2-4 week expedition-based internships involve participation in NOAA Ocean Exploration-supported expeditions aboard NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer supporting seafloor mapping operations, giving participants the chance to contribute to mission efforts while gaining tangible skills that can benefit their future pursuits. Internship themes available in 2025 are listed below, and additional details may be found on the Explorer-in-Training webpage. Applicants may only apply for one internship theme per year.

The 2025 Undergraduate Research Symposium application is now OPEN to undergraduate researchers! Presenting at the Symposium is a great opportunity for undergrads of all disciplines to showcase their intellectual explorations and creative work! It is an opportunity to celebrate achievement and a great opportunity for personal and professional growth. Collaborate with mentors and group members to submit a single project title and statement; work-in-progress and complete projects are always welcome!

We are a serious-minded study abroad program whose chief mission is to see undergraduate research being published in refereed journals. We have already published two such papers and a third has been accepted. Our focus this summer is on sustainability in the Eastern Mediterranean. We believe our program is an important part of internationalizing students’ education.

The Bioresource Science and Engineering major in the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences is hosting its first annual Bioeconomy Career Day in the HUB room 337(morning) and room 334 (afternoon) on Wednesday January 15th.  

The College of the Environment is excited to invite fellow Huskies to our upcoming employer event, Ocean Tech Career Day, on Wednesday, January 22. Representatives from various ocean technology companies will be present to discuss their work, advertise open opportunities, and answer questions from students.
This event is a great opportunity for students who are interested in discovering potential career pathways in ocean technology.
