The Office of Undergraduate Research is launching a new interdisciplinary research program, the Undergraduate Research Collective! It’s is a two-year program designed for first-year, second-year, and first-year transfer students with no prior research experience. Students enroll in a two-quarter seminar focused on research preparation and community-building, are matched with a faculty mentor to conduct research, and receive an $8,000 scholarship over the course of their two-year participation. Baldasty & Beam Scholarship for Unpaid Public Sector Internships | Deadline: April 13
Undergraduate students only
Aims to reduce financial barriers and support students in pursuit of high-quality internships. Typical awards range from $1,000 – $2,500. Students must meet the following requirements: Full-time enrolled undergraduate student at the UW Seattle campus Returning to campus Autumn quarter – Graduating seniors are not eligible.
Marine Biology student, Jaycee Williford, receives the Kurt Grinnell Aquaculture Scholarship

Finishing up his second quarter at the University of Washington – studying Marine Biology and American Indian Studies (AIS) – is Jaycee Williford. He recently received the Kurt Grinnell Aquaculture Scholarship, which is awarded to Indigenous people interested in pursuing educational opportunities in aquaculture, fisheries science and management or natural resource management.

Mary Gates Leadership & Research Scholarships | Deadline: January 27, 2025
Mary Gates Scholarships provide $5,000 ($2,500 per quarter for two quarters) for ALL undergraduate students to pursue leadership or research activities. These scholarships benefit students in the current academic year and connect students with a community of scholars and mentors.

Travel Grants – Call for 2025 WDAFS Travel Grants
The Western Division and the Colorado/Wyoming Chapter of The American Fisheries Society will be co-hosting the 2025 Western Division AFS Annual Meeting. The Western Division is pleased to offer travel grants to help with registration and travel assistance to attend the meeting, which will be held in Westminster, Colorado during May 11-15, 2025.
