Introducing GEODUC – An exciting new opportunity for incoming transfer students

Marine Geoscience Education, Oceanographic Discovery, Undergraduate Collaboration (GEODUC) is a new and unique offering from the UW College of the Environment. GEODUC is a two-week immersive experience for incoming transfer students on board our research vessel and at our marine field facilities. Students will receive hands-on training and create an independent research project to answer their own questions. All expenses are covered. In addition, students will receive a stipend of $1,400.

Banse Early Career Scientist Seminar Series (BECSSS) focuses on bringing graduate students, post doctoral scholars, and new faculty from underrepresented and historically excluded backgrounds to the UW Oceanography department to share their innovative research and to connect with our faculty on future career opportunities. Space is also reserved for renowned scholars and those who have chosen careers outside of academia. BECSSS scholars come from all over the country and the world, hosted in person and virtually, to bring their research to UW Oceanography. The BECSS series runs through winter quarter (January 5 – March 9) on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:00pm PT.

THE POSITION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING SAMPLING COVERAGE IN THE ASSIGNED PORT AND FOR THE COLLECTION OF BIOLOGICAL SAMPLES AS PRESCRIBED BY IPHC PROCEDURES FOR UNBIASED REPRESENTATION OF THE LANDED CATCH FOR THE STOCK ASSESSMENT AND OTHER SCIENTIFIC AND MANAGEMENT NEEDS.
