Future Rivers, in collaboration with the University of Washington’s College of the Environment and EarthLab, is pleased to present our Fall 2022 Film Series screening of the documentary Picture a Scientist . This film chronicles the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists.
The showing of the film will be on Thursday, November 3 at Noon at the Ethnic Cultural Center Auditorium on the University of Washington campus, or you may view the film on your own time via various streaming services.

NOAA Corps Career Info Session

Joining us on 18 October at 4.30pm will be representatives from NOAA Corps, providing an information session for marine biology students, taking place in the Fishery Sciences Building, Room 207.
The NOAA Corps provides a cadre of professionals trained in engineering, earth sciences, oceanography, meteorology, fisheries science, and other related disciplines to operate NOAA’s ships, fly aircraft, manage research projects, conduct diving operations, and serve in staff positions throughout NOAA.
A summer well spent for a marine biologist

Samantha-Lynn Martinez, a second-year undergrad studying Marine Biology, recently served as a research assistant for the art-sciences project, Care for the Stranded, in collaboration with the Henry Art Gallery over the course of this summer. This project allowed her to combine her creative passions of photography and design with the marine science topics she is most excited about, and recounts her experience in Photo-ID work and more in her Interdisciplinary Honors Portfolio.

Debbie is the Director of Equity and Inclusion at Lakeside School., She will share different ways to support Latinx and diverse students in higher education. Miguel is the Coordinator of the Undocumented Student Resource Center at California State University, East Bay. He will share his personal, career, and professional experiences as a DACAmented professional in higher education. The event will occur on Friday, Oct 14, from 12 pm-2 pm at the HUB 214.
