The C&IC and UWAA are hosting two virtual alumni panels in April as part of our alumni panel series! This event is open to all UW students and alumni, though UWT students/alumni will need to email cicmentor@uw.edu for access:

Careers in Public Health, co-hosted with the School of Public Health (4/22, 4-5pm)

Paid Undergrad Research Position Open in Environmental Health, deadline 4/25

The Supporting Undergraduate Research Experiences in Environmental Health (SURE-EH) program provides program provides research opportunities to UW undergrads, including those from groups underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral sciences, with a meaningful opportunity to work with experienced faculty on a research project addressing the relationship between environmental exposures and human health.
With funds provided by a NIEHS grant, students accepted into the program will work alongside faculty and research staff in the School of Public Health’s Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Science (DEOHS).

If you have ever wondered what it is like to participate on a sea-going oceanographic research cruise onboard a global class ship using an underwater robotic vehicle diving to depths of 10,000 ft, please consider applying to the UW VISIONS’25 program. There are no requirements, and the program is open to all UW students no matter what your major is. There will be 2 legs of the cruise onboard the UW 274 ft-long R/V Atlantis, a global class research ship hosting the robotic vehicle Jason.

Marine Biology student, Jaycee Williford, receives the Kurt Grinnell Aquaculture Scholarship

Finishing up his second quarter at the University of Washington – studying Marine Biology and American Indian Studies (AIS) – is Jaycee Williford. He recently received the Kurt Grinnell Aquaculture Scholarship, which is awarded to Indigenous people interested in pursuing educational opportunities in aquaculture, fisheries science and management or natural resource management.

Come join Washington Sea Grant’s Crab Team’s annual bonanza to cut, weigh, and bag all 800lb of mackerel to be used across the green crab monitoring network in 2025. It can get a bit messy, but there are various jobs to choose from (some less messy than others), along with good music and even better company. Grab a friend and sign up for the fun!
