I think this is a great opportunity for a student looking for an interesting, cost effective summer field science course in a location that is exotic, foreign, and safe. There is the opportunity to study Portuguese language and culture alongside the science, and I even have a small amount of scholarship funding to help defray costs. Find out how you can spend a semester on a sailboat in the Caribbean, Europe, Polynesia or New Zealand. While these are not UW programs, the UW School of Oceanography faculty highly recommends them and supports credit equivalencies for many of their courses.
