The University of Washington Puget Sound Institute is sponsoring up to ten student writers to report short (500-word) stories about science findings presented at the upcoming Salish Sea Ecosystem Conference to be held online April 26-28. We are offering $200 per story and can cover conference registration costs. Successful writers will publish their work in our magazine Salish Sea Currents: https://www.eopugetsound.org/magazine. Writers will also be encouraged to promote their work through social media. 

$1000 – $5000 + scholarships Open to women (cis-women and any persons who identify as women) who will be juniors or seniors at a four-year college or university in the state of Washington in the Fall of 2022.  Applicants must have a declared major in the sciences, engineering or mathematics, and must have a United States issued social security number. Winners generally have exemplary grades, outstanding letters of recommendation, financial need, a record of community service, and a strong interest in pursuing a career in the sciences, engineering or mathematics.

NOW is the time to apply to the College of the Environment Undergraduate Bethel Student Support Fund and the Immersive Learning Fund for experiences happening in spring or summer quarter. Bethel is for support of work at the interface of academics and inclusion, including experiences on or off campus like capstone, senior thesis and research, which further diversity, equity and inclusion within the College. Immersive is for support of furthering students’ careers and making connections to networking opportunities afforded by on or off campus research, capstone and senior thesis experiences. 

Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program Available Now: The NOAA Office of National Marine Sanctuaries is seeking applications for the Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program. Applicants are individuals, particularly women and minorities, who due to financial constraints, may not otherwise be able to pursue an advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in oceanography, marine biology, maritime archaeology

The NOAA Office of National Marine Sanctuaries is seeking applications for the Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program from individuals, particularly women and minorities, who due to financial constraints, may not otherwise be able to pursue an advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in oceanography, marine biology, maritime archaeology—these may include, but are not limited to ocean and/or coastal: engineering, social science, marine education, marine stewardship, cultural anthropology, and resource management disciplines.

The Udall Foundation awards scholarships to college sophomores and juniors for leadership, public service, and commitment to issues related to Native American nations or to the environment.

One student will be selected each year as our Wild Fish For All Scholar. We will provide the winner with a $1,000 scholarship to put toward college tuition, fees, housing, and books. The top five applicants will also receive a one-year membership to the Native Fish Society.
