Georgia Tech’s Focus program is one of the nation’s premier graduate recruitment programs designed to attract highly skilled students who have historically been underrepresented in higher education, equipping them with the knowledge and resources necessary to successfully navigate the graduate admissions process. Each year, a select group of undergraduate students (we refer to this group as Focus Scholars) who are in their third through final years of undergrad from around the nation are invited to apply to attend Focus.

Office of Global Affairs (OGA) – Fall 2023 Global Innovation Fund (GIF) award cycle
The Office of Global Affairs (OGA) is now accepting applications for the Fall 2023 Global Innovation Fund (GIF) award cycle. The application deadline is November 8th and decisions will be made by the end of the year.
GIF provides seed funding for projects focused on expanding global research and learning at the UW, and we are especially interested in supporting proposals by new entrants and early-career faculty.

This series will suggest strategies for navigating all aspects of the application process.

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
In honor of Caroline Gibson’s enduring love and commitment to the Salish Sea, the Northwest Straits Foundation is pleased to invite applications for the Caroline Gibson Scholarship in Marine Studies. Scholarships support current college students pursuing academic studies in marine science, policy, education and management of the Salish Sea.
Native Agriculture and Food Systems Scholarships
The Native Agriculture and Food Systems Scholarships encourage more Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian college students to enter agriculture and food systems fields so that they can better assist their communities with their food systems efforts.
First Nations will award 20 to 25 $1,000 to $1,500 scholarships for the 2023-2024 academic school year to Native college students majoring in agriculture and agriculture-related fields, including but not limited to, agribusiness management, agri-science technologies, agronomy, animal husbandry, aquaponics, environmental studies, fisheries and wildlife, food production and safety, food-related policy and legislation, food science and technology, horticulture, irrigation science, and sustainable agriculture or food systems.

Benefitting from a series of in-person information sessions geared towards helping students apply for the NOAA Hollings Scholarship Program, we’re happy to announce that multiple UW students from the College of the Environment have been granted the award this year.
Marine Biology students Jenna Callan and Kathryn Whitmer, Oceanography student Annabel Wade, and Atmospheric Sciences student Vlad Munteanu, are some of the 120 students who were awarded the Hollings Scholarship this year from thousands of applicants nationwide.
