The Career & Internship Center and the UW Alumni Association are proud to co-host a series of Alumni Panels throughout the 2023-24 academic year. During Fall 2023, we’re excited to offer the following sessions, where students will be able to hear tips, experiences, insights, and recommendations from 2-4 UW alumni. Each panel discussion will start as a moderated panel, and then move into an open Q&A with the audience.

Women in STEM Virtual Career Fair
On August 23rd, 2023, Vault will be hosting its third annual Women in STEM Virtual Career Fair. This free fair will provide students and professionals pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and math with the opportunity to engage with employers, seek out new and exciting jobs, learn valuable career lessons, and expand their professional network. Benefitting from a series of in-person information sessions geared towards helping students apply for the NOAA Hollings Scholarship Program, we’re happy to announce that multiple UW students from the College of the Environment have been granted the award this year.
Marine Biology students Jenna Callan and Kathryn Whitmer, Oceanography student Annabel Wade, and Atmospheric Sciences student Vlad Munteanu, are some of the 120 students who were awarded the Hollings Scholarship this year from thousands of applicants nationwide.
Immersive marine science opportunity for UW transfer students: looking ahead to year two of the GEODUC Program
Heading into its second year, the GEODUC program, based at the UW College of the Environment, is a two-week immersive experience for incoming transfer students interested in marine science.

José Guzmán, faculty in Marine Biology and SAFS, describes GEODUC as a unique opportunity that acts as a bridge program for students from community colleges to build confidence with quantitative skills and create a support network before they arrive at campus.
