Deep Dive into Ocean Exploration Technologies: Online Professional Learning Event 
Educators and the general public are invited to join NOAA Ocean Exploration in a live, online professional learning event this November. Join us to learn about the vast arena of modern ocean technologies used to explore our deep and open ocean.
Bring your questions for the opportunity to have them answered live, by ocean exploration technology experts that have worked with and had a hand in designing modern exploration systems used to study the biology, geology, chemistry and physics of our global ocean. 

Fiona Curliss, the adviser at Friday Harbor Labs (FHL), will be in town next week!  She will be on the Seattle Campus on Monday, Oct. 23, Tuesday, Oct. 24, and the morning of Thursday, Oct. 26.   Pema Kitaeff, the Friday Harbor Labs Diving Officer, will also be joining the Tuesday Information Session to talk about Diving.
Remember that almost all Marine Biology Majors will study at FHL for 3-10 weeks in order to graduate, so come to an Info Session to plan ahead! 

The Career & Internship Center and the UW Alumni Association are proud to co-host a series of Alumni Panels throughout the 2023-24 academic year. During Fall 2023, we’re excited to offer the following sessions, where students will be able to hear tips, experiences, insights, and recommendations from 2-4 UW alumni. Each panel discussion will start as a moderated panel, and then move into an open Q&A with the audience.

On August 23rd, 2023, Vault will be hosting its third annual Women in STEM Virtual Career Fair. This free fair will provide students and professionals pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and math with the opportunity to engage with employers, seek out new and exciting jobs, learn valuable career lessons, and expand their professional network. Those who attend this year’s event will have the opportunity to attend various panel discussions and fireside chats. 

“NANOOS Spotlight: Bridging Science and Industry for Ocean Observing to Meet Community Needs” is dedicated to highlighting ocean science and technology that addresses community needs. Join us for exciting guest speakers, including Congresswoman Jayapal, and a dynamic panel discussion with NANOOS partners in science, engineering, and industry, showcasing the latest developments relevant to understanding the ecosystem of the PNW coastal ocean. 

Benefitting from a series of in-person information sessions geared towards helping students apply for the NOAA Hollings Scholarship Program, we’re happy to announce that multiple UW students from the College of the Environment have been granted the award this year.
Marine Biology students Jenna Callan and Kathryn Whitmer, Oceanography student Annabel Wade, and Atmospheric Sciences student Vlad Munteanu, are some of the 120 students who were awarded the Hollings Scholarship this year from thousands of applicants nationwide. 

Heading into its second year, the GEODUC program, based at the UW College of the Environment, is a two-week immersive experience for incoming transfer students interested in marine science.
