The School of Aquatic and Fishery Science’s (SAFS) annual Autumn Seminar Series begins next week, Thursday, September 26. Be sure to view the SAFS events page and hit the + to subscribe and have information about each week’s presentation added to your calendar. Presentations will also be recorded and uploaded to the SAFS YouTube channel the following day.

On Saturday October 5, at 1 pm, the Adopt A Stream Foundation and Snohomish County Parks are presenting Killer Whale Tales at the Northwest Stream Center in Everett (reservations and tickets are required).

On May 4th, the University of Washington held its second annual Aquatic Science Open House, inviting Seattle-area families, students, and teachers to explore the institution’s marine and freshwater science programs. The event was organized by the Students Explore Aquatic Sciences (SEAS) outreach group based in the School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences (SAFS) and the Academic and Recreational Graduate Oceanographers (ARGO) outreach group based in the School of Oceanography. 

Current UW students are invited to attend a guest talk Terry Hughes, Director of ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies in Australia.

There will be a SEA Semester representative visiting campus on Monday, April 22.  He will hold an information session, 2:00-3:00pm in the Marine Sciences Building, Room 123.  Please come by if you can.

Our SAFS 100 Year Celebration and 2019 Bevan Symposium is only a few days away. Due to the overwhelming response registration has been closed as we have reached our capacity. We have arranged a special live-stream of the presentations using Zoom to FSH 203 for each day of presentations. If you wish to participate remotely you can also watch the presentations on your own devices.

The Program on Climate Change (PCC) invites you to attend our third annual Spring Symposium on Saturday, April 27 from 10 am to 3 pm in Ocean Sciences Building (OCN) 425. This exciting event features interdisciplinary presentations on climate-related research, outreach, and education by students and postdoctoral researchers. A light breakfast, catered lunch, and afternoon refreshments will be provided.
