FHL Biomechanics Class Summer 2024 – please share!
Apologies for the mass email, but Mark Denny and I are spreading the word that we will be teaching biomechanics at UW Friday Harbor Laboratories this summer (June 10 – July 12). You can get the details here: https://fhl.uw.edu/courses/course-descriptions/course/ecological-biomechanics-2024/.
Application review begins in early March and financial aid is available. The course is pitched for grad students, but would be a great experience for an advanced undergrad, post-bac, post-doc or adventure-seeking professor.

Are you interested in traveling to Yellowstone National Park over spring break? Want to see wolves, explore US National Park Service management, put your GIS and wildlife skills to work, or catch and track a raven? If so, you may be interested in taking ESRM 459 Spring Quarter with Professors Aaron Wirsing, John Marzluff, and a third instructor TBD.

WIN24 Course: ANTH 210 Introduction to Environmental Anthropology
Winter 2024: ANTH 210 Introduction to Environmental Anthropology
About: Anthropologists have long been interested in the relationships between people and the natural environment. For most of human history, the relationship between humans and the environments in which they have lived was largely one of resource extraction with relatively low levels of impact. This relationship with the environment changed quite dramatically after the advent of food domestication, as well as after the Industrial Revolution, and has kept pace ever since with new technological innovations and increased global political-economic relations between human populations that have affected the natural world at large.

New Marine Biology Course: Living Oceans

Unveil the wonders of the ocean with a new Marine Biology course taught by Dr Ronel Nel.
What is this course about?
The marine realm dominates our planet’s surface and encompasses a rich tapestry of biodiversity. Life began in the oceans, evolving over eons through nature’s meticulous selection. In this introductory course, we’ll unravel the mysteries of familiar animals with extraordinary adaptations and delve into the extraordinary lives of creatures from known and distant habitats, all shaped by the relentless forces of biology and physics.
FISH 200: Freshwater Ecology & Conservation
