We are seeking interested in applicants to apply for a 10 week internship with our West Coast Region Communications and External Affairs Branch. The successful applicant will have the chance to work on a variety of communications-related tasks and projects for a natural resources federal agency.

NOAA’s Regional Administrator’s Office (RAO) is seeking bright, innovative, results-oriented students who are pursuing a degree or certificate program in an accredited educational institution for our Summer Intern Program. The NOAA Summer Intern Program targets students currently enrolled (or currently enrolled and accepted for enrollment) in a degree-seeking or Certificate program at least on a half-time basis. (Applicants who do not meet the definition of student by the closing date of the announcement will not be considered). We are looking for individuals who have some interest and/or background in both natural resource management and communications.

As a student trainee (Office Support), you will perform work assignments that are clear cut, well-planned, and designed to prepare the employee to perform work auxiliary to the organization. The incumbent receives direction and entry level, developmental assignments under closer than normal supervision. The major duties of the position may vary, however, consist of the full range of standard administrative and clerical assignments with related steps, processes, and methods. The types of tasks you may work on include writing for the web, creating social media content, supporting tribal relations, photography, short videos, data visualization, graphic design, education and outreach, and science communications.

Salary: $35,499 – $53,468 per year
