Summer REU Program at WSU
Applications are open for just two more weeks for the summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program in aquatic biological systems at WSU!
Students will spend 10 weeks here in Pullman completing an independent research project with a faculty mentor culminating in a presentation at the WSU undergraduate research symposium. This REU program is based in WSU Pullman’s state-of-the-art Aquatics Phenomics Research Center, where 5+ lab groups keep and study vertebrate animals. The students will take professional development and skill-building workshops, and build community with their cohort through field trips like rafting the Clearwater River and hiking to Palouse Falls. Students are paid $7,000 stipend and travel expenses to WSU, and will stay with other summer research program students on campus.
The application is due March 2; you can find more information on the program website: (https://sbs.wsu.edu/aquaticslab/robustness-and-resilience-of-aquatic-biosystems/).
I will be recruiting a student to study functional morphology and kinematics of benthic feeding with fishes in the lab. Last year’s summer program was a huge success; both the students in my lab presented their work at SICB in January and our work was featured in WSU Insider!
Please share this email with any motivated students who’d be interested! For information about the program, the coordinator is Erica Crespi (erica.crespi@wsu.edu).
Cheers,
Katherine
