FREE Coextinction film screening on January 25th!

You’re invited! Join WashPIRG, American Cetacean Society, Orca Conservancy, Se’Si’Le, and Save Our Wild Salmon for a FREE Coextinction film screening on January 25th!

“After a mother orca carries her dead calf for 17 days, two filmmakers spring into action, joining Indigenous leaders and scientists making a final attempt to save the last 73 Southern Resident orcas from extinction. Moving beyond a traditional wildlife documentary, Coextinction takes audiences deep into the oceans and forests of the Pacific Northwest to witness the complex systems of interconnectedness linking together ecosystem collapse, centuries of injustice against Indigenous peoples, and the frontlines of the world’s most pressing environmental threats. No species goes extinct in isolation.”

This film feels especially timely now, as we watch Tahlequah grieve for a calf once again. Each attendee will have the opportunity to complete action items to support Southern Resident orcas, as well as a certificate in organizing for attending the event.

The FREE film screening will be at Kane Hall on the UW Seattle Campus from 6:00-8:30 pm on January 25th. It will include short speeches from prominent members of the orca conservation community, including Kurt Russo, Co-Executive Director of Se’Si’Le, and Ione Ironhorse Martel Jones, President and Executive Director of KHIMSTONIK. The QR code to RSVP is on the poster linked below.

We hope to see you there!

Thank you!
