Join WDFW as a Full-Time Aquatic Invasive Species Inspector!
Join the Enforcement Program as an Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Inspector to prevent destructive invasive species from spreading. We are currently seeking individuals who are invested in protecting state water by inspecting and decontaminating trailered watercraft for AIS. These positions are critical to the restoration and enhancement of Washington’s native populations and their habitats.
Duties
Inspect recreational and commercial watercraft at mandatory check stations:
- Inspects watercraft at check stations for AIS, conducts routine inspections, identifies, and preserves possible AIS from watercraft, report watercraft if infested with AIS so that it will be decontaminated with hot water pressure washer.
- Records collected information on electronic Tablets.
- Interacts with the public, conducts standardized interviews to obtain watercraft data, performs routine data entry.
- Check station set up and removal, transport trailered electronic reader boards, deploy signage alerting watercraft of check stations.
Perform Office Support:
- Collect, organize, and compile information from check station operations.
- Complete and submit weekly activity reports.
- Perform quality control on information collected at inspection stations.
Conduct Equipment Maintenance:
- Maintain vehicles, inspection station site, and trailered electronic reader boards.
- Ensure that electronic tablets are in safe and working order.
