Hands on experience with marine organisms through the GEODUC program
What hands on experience with marine organisms did April Morrow, GEODUC scholar and UW transfer student, have whilst at Friday Harbor Labs? Find out in our next student takeover.
Thank you for tuning in and watching my Instagram takeover for the GEODUC program!!
Here are some highlights from the GEODUC program – we got hands on with marine organisms by observing and doing a small project and oceanographic applications like niskin bottles and water sampling, looking for diatoms, building sensors.
Apply by July 14th 2023 for the opportunity to be involved in this 2-week, all paid for, amazing hands on experience in the San Juan Islands at the Friday Harbor Laboratories (FHL)!
GEODUC also just got an award through the College of the Environment for outstanding commitment to diversity!! I LOVED being a part of this program, it was very beneficial to my transfer at UW and helped set me on the right path to my education. There are great faculty and advisors along with peers to meet and help you be prepared!
Some of these photos include me holding a slime star, a Melibe leonina nudibranch, a mass of nudibranch eggs, some diatoms, niskin bottles and some views of the FHL campus!
Feel free to reach out to me on Instagram if you have any questions @aperilcm and there is geoduc@uw.edu to connect with the program! 🫶🏼🪼🦀🦑🦐
