UW ROV Team

Hello! My name is Peyton Lee, and I would like to introduce the Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles Team or UWROV. We are a marine science and engineering club that builds, designs, and operates underwater robots (ROVs) to compete in the international MATE competition!
Our ROVs are built to meet the yearly MATE competition theme, which simulates real-life challenges in marine science and technology. This year’s theme includes tackling plastic pollution and ghost nets, mapping coral reefs for damage, and imaging artificial reefs.
We’re looking for students interested in marine science, robotics, engineering, or business to join us for the 2020-2021 competition season. We welcome students of all skill and experience levels to apply at uwrov.org/recruitment. Applications close on Friday, October 16th at 11:59 PM.
If you’d like to learn more about UWROV and how we operate, we have a number of upcoming events for interested students.
We’re hosting a Dawg Daze Virtual Tour and Q&A on Monday, Sept. 28th from 12-1 PM PST, exploring our lab space and talking about our current projects. (Google Calendar) (Zoom)
We will also be hosting two Information Sessions on October 5th and 13th. They’ll consist of a short presentation with plenty of time for questions. We’ll be talking about the club’s objectives and structure and how you can be a part of our 2020-2021 season.
Monday, Oct. 5th, 5:00-6:00 PM PST (Google Calendar) (Zoom)
Tuesday, Oct. 13th, 6:00-7:00 PM PST (Google Calendar) (Zoom)
Thank you for your time, and we hope to hear from you soon!
Sincerely,
Peyton Lee
