I had the best time getting to take over this instagram account and answer your questions about volunteer research, marine critters, and lab opportunities!

My name is Abby, and I’m a senior majoring Marine Biology with a minor in Aquatic and Fishery Sciences (@uw_safs)! Throughout my academic career at UW, I have found an immense passion for hands-on lab and field work. Whether that has been through my volunteer work with the Padilla-Gamiño Lab, or earning my AAUS scientific diving certification up at Friday Harbor, I have loved getting to physically interact with the organisms I’m studying.

As a volunteer research assistant, I have been helping Jeremy Axworthy with his research involving coral and micro-plastic adhesion and ingestion! Jeremy is a graduate student and PhD candidate within the Padilla-Gamiño lab.

If you have any questions regarding volunteer lab opportunities, corals, or scientific diving feel free to shoot me a message at @abby.goudey or @underthesea.with.abby!!
