Seattle Arctic Encounter logoHosted by the University of Washington School of Law, the Arctic Encounter will convene its third annual national symposia in Seattle, Washington. Building upon prior Arctic Encounter Seattle (AES) events, this two-day conference will confront the shared interests and concerns of the United States and the global community as we look north to the last emerging frontier – the Arctic.

Policymakers, industry leaders, regional stakeholders and leading experts from the science, technology, maritime and energy sectors, will come together at AES to address challenges to right action in the Arctic region and debate solutions.

As the largest annual Arctic policy event in the U.S., AES participants will engage in expert plenary sessions, two keynote luncheons, breakout sessions, a cocktail hour and seated dinner at the Museum of History & Industry on Lake Union and a closing reception. We hope you will join us in Seattle!

SAFS in the News: Scientist captures amazing photos of massive Alaskan sockeye salmon run

originally shared on the School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences Student Services Blog

SAFS alumnus Jason Ching is featured on the Mother Nature Network:

“If the realms of science and art seems worlds away from each other, you’d be gravely mistaken. After all, when you’re studying the science behind the world around us, how can you not feel inspired by its sublime beauty? That’s why it should come as no surprise to learn that some of society’s most creative and passionate artists also happen to possess brilliant scientific minds.

One such scientist is Jason Ching, a Washington-based researcher who has spent years studying and photographing Bristol Bay’s sockeye salmon populations.”

UW Career Center Workshop: Employer Mock Interviews

Hey Huskies!

Are you nervous about interviews? Not sure how to approach the interview process? No worries, we are here to help! If you’ve already attended the Career Center’s Interviewing Getting Started workshop and Interviewing Lab, the next best way for undergraduate students of all majors to prepare is through practicing with an employer! Sign up for the chance to put your interviewing skills into action by practicing with and receiving feedback from a Husky-friendly employer.

The Employer Mock Interview on January 13th, 2016 is an hour long session, taking place in the Career Center. Students will have the opportunity to practice general interview skills with employers in an interview setting. Employers will be asking general interview questions to a group of 3-4 students for 40-minutes following by a 20 minute debriefing. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!

There are two sessions available, and seats are very limited (One slot per student ONLY). Please register for a spot by submitting your resume in Catalyst and we will send you a confirmation within 2-3 days.
