Ah spring! Nearly at the end of the school year: cherry blossoms, singing birds, and for many of you: thoughts about jobs and careers. You might be graduating and looking for your first job out of school, or you may be focused on exploring career options or securing good internships.
Wherever you are in your career planning, you should take advantage of the UW Career Center spring workshops. Workshops are available on all sorts of topics from writing resumes to online networking. Best of all, they are free for UW students.
Whether your job search is imminent or you just started college this year, you should get in touch with the UW Career Center. More than a dozen different kinds of workshops are offered multiple times through winter quarter, and they are all held conveniently in Mary Gates Hall. Workshops range from early career exploration and networking basics to learning details about resumes, cover letters and job interviews. There are opportunities to get your own portfolio reviewed, and even structured mock-interviews with real employers. Workshops are free for current students, so make the time to attend some workshops this quarter.
Are you nervous about interviews? Not sure how to approach the interview process? No worries, we are here to help! If you’ve already attended the Career Center’s Interviewing Getting Started workshop and Interviewing Lab, the next best way for undergraduate students of all majors to prepare is through practicing with an employer! Sign up for the chance to put your interviewing skills into action by practicing with and receiving feedback from a Husky-friendly employer.
The Employer Mock Interview on January 13th, 2016 is an hour long session, taking place in the Career Center. Students will have the opportunity to practice general interview skills with employers in an interview setting. Employers will be asking general interview questions to a group of 3-4 students for 40-minutes following by a 20 minute debriefing. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!
There are two sessions available, and seats are very limited (One slot per student ONLY). Please register for a spot by submitting your resume in Catalyst and we will send you a confirmation within 2-3 days.
