What is the Orca Bowl?
Orca Bowl is one of 25 regional components of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB). It is Washington’s regional marine sciences bowl competition for high school students.

Become a volunteer naturalist on the Cedar River and learn about one of the world’s amazing wildlife migrations, which runs through the heart of Seattle, Renton and on up into Maple Valley! Naturalists will receive 20 hours of training from fish and watershed experts in September.

UW’s Academic Support Programs is offering a service-learning seminar titled “EDUC 401: Higher Education Tutoring and Mentorship” in Autumn Quarter 2016. This weekly seminar introduces juniors and seniors to tutoring, mentoring, and teaching methodologies. Students apply what they learn in class through tutoring and mentoring new transfer, freshman, and sophomore students who are transitioning socially, culturally, and academically to the UW.

STEM education: Volunteer with Seattle MESA

Seattle MESA is looking for volunteer tutors from the UW student body. Now is your chance to help a high school student excel!

Tutors can:

Build your confidence in your STEM subject(s)
Help a high school/middle school student in their STEM classes
Motivate/Mentor a student while developing your teaching skills
Work with other great volunteers
Earn credit toward graduation

All transportation to the tutoring sites are through UCAR (UCAR certification is not mandatory but desired).
